In a Nutshell
We've made it to our final newsletter editor feature! One of our goals is to help brighten your Fridays, and we sincerely hope these long-overdue introductions have accomplished just that.

Let's not forget that this series also came about because we wanted to foster a stronger relationship with you, and your responses are one sign of that. Thank you to those who feel comfortable writing to us. While we can't reply to everyone, we love reading everything you send!

That brings us to today's final introduction: Rita Mauceri. Rita operates mostly behind the scenes as our manager, so you won't see her on the newsletter frontlines, but she's still an essential piece of our team. She's been with Healthline for 9 years and loves writing about the buzziest health trends, which you can find in our biweekly Wishlist newsletter (more on that later). Scroll down to learn more about Rita!

Hiya, Rita!
what's got us buzzing
Hiya, Rita!
Describe your ideal weekend.
Any combination of hiking, friends, and food.
I love being outside as much as possible and live in LA, where there are acres of great trails within a few miles. LA often gets a bad rap, but IYKYK … we have mountain hikes, beach hikes, Hollywood hikes, you name it. And the most perfect weather for it year-round. I also hike as much as possible when I travel and have found it's such a great way to experience places. One of my favorite trails ever was outside of Florence, Italy.
Food typically involves breakfast tacos from our local street stand, huevos rancheros from El Huarachito, or a long, lazy old-school brunch with eggs, bacon, and very strong coffee.
My one nonnegotiable is sleeping in. I love to sleep and can easily snooze until 11 a.m. (sometimes later). It's the ultimate reset if I've had a busy or stressful week.
What's a little-known fact about yourself?
I used to interview celebrities for a living. It sounds fun, but it wasn't really my thing. It often works like a lightning round, so you have a few minutes to ask about their new movie or show, and that's it. Meanwhile, they're answering the same questions a thousand times over, so I always felt a bit sorry for them.
I got to interview George Clooney when he was first becoming famous, and he was as cool as he seems. He was on set, in his trailer, listening to Blues Traveler — a really chill, nice, funny guy. I see why people like him.
Are you a cat or dog person, and why?
I have two cats who would be very upset if I said dogs. Hopefully, they're not reading this, so I'll say both. Cats are so undeniably cool. I feel lucky to get their time and attention. But I'd love to also have a dog. If not for my husband forcing restraint on me, I would have at least two. I keep looking for someone who would just "abandon" a very cute rescue pup in my backyard so we can "find" it one day and be forced to call it ours.
I could talk your ear off about …
Why LA is misunderstood. My current food obsessions. The latest "Atlantic" article I read — they're soooo good at long-form, journalistic storytelling.
What's one talent you wish you had?
I always wished I could sing, but I can't carry a tune to save my life. My cats will literally give me the stink eye and walk away if I start singing along to something. I'd like to sing like Lana Del Rey or Olivia Dean.
Do you think you could survive a zombie apocalypse?
I'd love to say yes, but I would probably try to reason with the zombies, and it wouldn't work out well for me.
