In a Nutshell
A couple of months ago, I got a lot of "fart walk" videos on my feed. Essentially, people were going for walks after a meal, aiding in the digestion process. When I asked my friends about it, no one else seemed to know what I was talking about. Still, it got me thinking: should I try this? The short answer: I did! Continue reading below to discover the potential benefits and my thoughts on the trend.

Should I be walking after meals?
what's got us buzzing
Should I be walking after meals?
Walking after eating can be a convenient way to incorporate a little exercise into your day and reap some added health benefits. These include:
🥪 Improving digestion: Moving your body stimulates your stomach and intestines, which may speed up the digestion process.
🩸 Lowering blood sugar: Exercising after eating can decrease blood sugar spikes. Light exercise, even for shorter periods, may be more effective than more intense exercise further away from the time of eating.
♥️ Reducing heart disease risk: Regular exercise lowers blood pressure and may lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.
🌟 Supporting weight loss: Exercise can help promote weight loss by contributing to burning more calories than consumed. That being said, further research is needed on the effects of walking after eating and its impact on weight loss.
I recently took a trip to Italy, where I was able to walk after each meal for an entire week. While these kinds of trips are rare, this is counterbalanced by the fact that I ate foods that I would usually limit at home in the United States: pizza, pasta, red meat, cheese, wine, and paninis.
I would wait around 30 minutes after eating to begin walking, which helps avoid an upset stomach, and then walk for 30 minutes to an hour.
It's also important to note that I'm not accustomed to this level of physical activity, and I was now engaging in at least 90 minutes of exercise per day, including inclines.
So, how did it make me feel? Would I do it again? Check out my full review below to find out.
