| | | Q | | What helps you stay grounded during this season's hustle and bustle? | | | | A | | "The holidays tend to be a slow time of year for me, which I love. Instead of focusing on achieving and doing as much as possible, as I do during the warmer months, I'm more content to spend time indoors lounging. I just have to make sure to find time to go outside during the daytime, or else I'll go a little batty." — Ginger Wojcik, newsletter editor
"I love baking during the holidays — especially the recipes my mother made when I was growing up. I'm not much of a baker the rest of the year, but there's something about rolling up my sleeves and diving into homemade holiday breads and cookies that is tactile and comforting. It's one of my favorite ways to slow down and reset when things get overwhelming. Plus, my house smells like cinnamon and caramelized sugar for days!" — Rita Mauceri, senior director of commerce
"I plan ahead whenever possible. I have a running list of presents I want to get people in my circle, and I usually buy them online a month or 2 before the holidays to avoid last-minute shopping. My family shares Amazon lists with one another, so we're buying gifts we know each other wants and will enjoy. We also always put the same tasks into people's hands: My husband smokes the turkey, I make green bean casserole and mashed potatoes, and my in-laws make desserts and breads.
"This year, though, is a little different because my husband won't be home for Christmas. So we're doing a joint Thanksgiving-Christmas, meaning I have to do everything a month earlier than usual. That's more stressful, but I'm planning in increments so it doesn't feel so overwhelming." — Ren Dias, editor | | | | | | | | If you'd like to request a specific topic, offer feedback, or chime in with your answers to our weekly questions, feel free to email us at newsletters@healthline.com.
